Satya's - 1st Bol Bachan

We got an example of Bol-bachan yesterday by General Musharraf !!!

It was a sense of dejavu, we had heard that about 8 years back in 1999 - hadn't we. In those days, I agree, times and situation in Pakistan were different. There was civilian rule, which perhaps, was not going the way it should have been. At least, according to the Armed forces of Pakistan. We would have been forgiven to think, that the Army may have had excellent plans for Pakistan - which would succeed for the Pakistani people. Specially in the given scenario where they were badly let down by its civilian rulers.

No, that was not to be. Democracy and democrats not only give a voice to the people; but there is a bigger purpose it serves - Democracy serves as a Safety Valve - something similiar to what we have in a pressure cooker - the simirring anger is released - only if there is democracy.

The General has imposed emergency on his country - but what is the emergency against? Was he not in power for the last 8 years? He claimed that all the institution had failed - isnt he to blame for it? It was his Govt which was in power?

What did he do to arrest this failure of his own state - which he was ruling? He has taken away all liberties from Pakistani society - no independent judiciary (all judges removed and under house arrest), no free media (independent channels taken off air) no freedom (cells & phones disconnected), no protests allowed (most high office holders in political parties arrested).

The people who were in power all left free to do as they were upto till now - how will it serve to restore his so called 'law & order' - if the people who were responsible for it still there, including the 'big cat' - General Musharraf himself.

Sometimes, we across the border feel - does Pakistan desrve this. Some say yes, a country desrves the Government it has, I beg to differ - only democracies deserve the government it has. Pakistan for most of its existence has not had a free democracy - I am definite Pakistan people deserve a beeter deal from its leaders, its neighbours & the world at large.
